Examination of theory and current research regarding the promotion of health as related to physical activity; including psychological, social, community-based, policy, and cultural influences. Topics include psychological and emotional effects of exercise, barriers and facilitators for physical activity, factors in exercise avoidance, adoption, and adherence, cognitive, behavioral, social, and policy-oriented change strategies for exercise, and consideration of gender, ethnicity, and special needs populations.

Prerequisites: KIN 111 & STA 201
